Despite the sunshine and current good weather we are making plans for next winter. We really need more helping hands and are looking for people who would join us. Depending on activities undertaken we will need to ask volunteers to take a DBS check for which we cover all costs. Ring 733441 for details or contact us via email [email protected].
We are most grateful to the Spar shop and H & HJ Huteson & Sons who provided prizes to take to our stall at Winterton Show. Winners have now received their prizes. The answer to the Game: "Who won the World Cup in 1930" was URUGUAY. Only 4 correct entries were received and the drawn winning entry was Hugo's (from Hugo Footcare). Your support provided us with £64.57. Many thanks to all who took part. We recently received confirmation that our application to The Blakemore Foundation has been succesful and a donation of £60 has been made. The latest amount received in our collection boxes amounted to £52.85. Many thanks to all who contribute. We are really pleased by our 4th place in the Winterton Sculpture Trail. The main part of our work is seasonal and we are delighted to see that people remembered the support we gave to vulnerable residents during snowfalls. Thank you to all the people who voted for us. We will be attending the Make a Difference Day in October and are looking forward to seeing many of you there. Estelle Mumby Chair Despite all the sunshine, we are now preparing for the winter months. We can assist residents over 60 who are vulnerable during the cold weather. Our aim is to prevent people falling and because snow and ice are not the only factors which can result in falls we have also got a leaf blowing/collection service. For more details contact us via email [email protected] or ring 733441. We are keeping our lists up to date and if you still want to receive our support there is no need to let us know unless you have changed your address or telephone number.
We are most grateful to the Safer Neighbourhoods Team who have recently provided us with personal attack alarms. We will be distributing them shortly to people on our lists to ensure that they feel more secure either at home or while out. Support for the Care Campaign continues to grow judging by all the people who have donated in our collection boxes. We emptied the boxes recently and found £33.34 at Jason Gray's Butchers, £17.88 at The George Hogg, £16.86 at the Butchers Arms and £41.09 at Smith & Walker Opticians. Many, many thanks everyone! Despite having distributed more Winter Survival Kits and Carbon Monoxide detectors the winter has been so mild that we were not called upon to do any snow clearing. However we are ready to take action with all our equipment when necessary. We can assist residents over 60 who are vulnerable during the cold weather. For more details contact us via email [email protected] or ring 733441.
We are most grateful to all the people who have made donations in our collection boxes located at Jason Gray Butchers, The George Hogg and the Butchers Arms. Total collected £69.82. We also raised £42.97 at our stall at the Charity Fair. We have recently been meeting with our local Police Officers and made contact with North Lincolnshire Council Environmental Health and Enforcement to address dog fouling problems. We will shortly meet with the Dog Warden. We have distributed more Winter Survival Kits and Carbon Monoxide detectors Our list of addresses for snow clearing is up to date. We can assist residents over 60 who are vulnerable during the cold weather. For more details contact us via email [email protected] or ring 733441.
We will be attending the community fuel poverty event being organised by Winterton Disabled Club on Saturday 18th March and will welcome the opportunity to meet new faces to have a chat on snow clearing & winter support. We have received reports from residents who have found that dog fouling is on the increase again in many areas of Winterton. Since 1 September 2008 an Order has been in place in North Lincolnshire making it an offence for a person in control of a dog not to clean up immediately if the dog has fouled on public land. Dog waste bins are available for disposal in various locations. The bins are emptied every Friday by North Lincolnshire Council. North Lincolnshire Council has Community Wardens whose remit include issuing fines to dog owners. Members of the public can report all incidents via the NLC website or by ringing 01724 297000. You will need to make a note of the day, date, location and time, a description of person in charge of the dog and a description of the dog. Most dog owners are responsible and clean up after their pets. Unfortunately there are some who can't be bothered and leave a mess. This not only blights the environment but is also a danger to health for children going to school, elderly and disabled people risking a fall and all others who can't enjoy a simple walk without dodging the mess. Winterton Care Campaign Group will support all initiatives to keep Winterton clean and tidy. A big thank you to Stuart Maw and John Evans who climbed Ben Nevis in atrocious weather conditions. We received £371.09.
